Presentation Title Advanced Network Forensics Lab
Presentation Abstract

This course teaches the participants the fundamentals of network-based forensics, such as analyzing network sessions and flows, extracting data from network traffic, detecting covert channel, and analyzing network attacks and exploits. The participants will also be introduced to HeX LiveCD 2.0, including hands-on sessions on how to install and use it.

About Mel

Mel has been in the computer security industry for the past seven years. He was previously a system architect at SCAN Associates where he was responsible for developing the Malaysian government’s largest network security monitoring center. He has also been involved with the organization of HITBSecConf conference for the last five years, specifically, in running its popular Capture the Flag hacking competition. In the past seven years in the industry, he has been involved in various aspects of computer security including penetration testing, software and product development, training, network defense, system administration, and as well as being a freelance consultant.

He is the Chapter Lead of the Malaysia Honeynet Project, and a contributer to the HeX LiveCD project. He blogs about computer security, Malaysian style at http://www.security.org.my.
