SIGINT TITLE: Third Party Software in Your Baseband
SIGINT ABSTRACT:
Did you ever wonder what that Forth interpreter was doing in your baseband? Or why the hell there are hardcoded french IP addresses and dubious X.509 certificates floating around? This talk will look at OEM integrated “testing” and “measurement” software contained in numerous basebands and how to have fun with them. Although I almost dare not utter the word “CarrierIQ”, rest assured that their software is much more funny at the baseband level than on the application processor side.
Spoiler: The aforementioned Forth interpreter allows you to peek and poke into the baseband memory
