COMMSEC VILLAGE
OVERVIEW
The HITB CommSec Village is our new Community and Security area dedicated to highlighting various security related projects from the open source community and from various EU hackerspaces. These communities will have their own playground and demonstration area to show off their projects and a chance to interact with the conference attendees.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Projects like OpenVAS, Metasploit, SNORT and IronBee are just a few examples – In 2011 we showed what creative goodness various hackerspaces could come up with when given a Lego Mindstorm and 2 days to develop bots for battle. At HITB2011KUL in Malaysia, we organized our very first 24-hour hackathon to build security tools which we called HackWEEKDAY. For Amsterdam 2012, we aim to expand on these 2 ideas and to combine them into a single unique activity which we will announce in the coming months, so stay tuned to our @hitbsecconf twitter stream for updates!
