Overview
Within the last years, we’ve seen hackerspaces poping up like mushrooms all across the world at an incredible rate. Hackerspaces have a very positive impact on the way hackers and computer scientists develop themselves and some incredible projects were born at hackerspaces like cracking MD5 certificates, the cold-boot attack, the Warzone project, hardware hacking/tinkering and much more.
Attendees to the Hackerspaces Village will get an inside look at hackerspaces, their community, projects and even get their hardware hack-on! In the village you will find representatives from the various .EU and Netherlands based hackerspaces who will be on site showcasing their projects. Each hackerspace will also present in the HITB SIGINT session highlighting the details of their current projects or developments. Do note that participating hackerspace members are entitled to attend the 2-day quad track conference (19th & 20th May) at only EUR250! Be sure to contact your local hackerspace to get your discount codes and for further details!
Get your thinking caps on and prepare for the FIRST EVER HITB Hackerspace Challenge featuring LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0’s! Organized by the security team from ITQ, the Hackerspaces Challenge will be a team-to-team based competition with some serious prizes up for grabs! Each team of 2 will be given the same task: To build a LEGO Mindstorm from scratch and complete a predetermined challenge (to be revealed only on conference Day 1 (19th May) in the fastest time possible.
Your project will be judged by a panel of experts based on the performance of your bot, aesthetics, smart engineering and of course 31337 programming skills! The winning team will take home the honor and glory plus a super generous donation of €1000 from ITQ towards your Hackerspace!
