The 4th annual HackWEEKDAY developer hackathon was successfully held in conjunction with HITBSecConf2014 – Malaysia on the 15th and 16th October 2014 with 80 participants, comprising of 65 local student developers, 5 international student developers and 10 local professional developers.
Held at Hotel Intercontinental, Kuala Lumpur, HackWEEKDAY offered a platform for participants to work collaboratively in generating ideas and tackling real world problems. During the hackathon, participants went through three developer sharing sessions and technical support from event sponsors Quintiq, Mozilla and Microsoft. A total of 28 projects ranging from security, social networking, education, and e-commerce were submitted to HackWEEKDAY 2014. List of projects:

The presentation and judging process started at 11am on 16th October 2014. The judging team was formed by 5 representatives from industrial and educational institute:

Participants were allowed 5 minutes to impress the judges on their ideas and apps. The evaluation was based on the criteria of potential development impact, novelty and innovation, feasibility, clarity of presentation and the final product.

Prizes: USD3000 cash prizes were sponsored by Quintiq, 3 Flame devices were sponsored by Mozilla, 2 Lumia 1520 were sponsored by Microsoft Malaysia, and 6 GitHub Plans were sponsored by GitHub. In addition, 2-day return trips from Hotel Intercontinental, Kuala Lumpur to Melaka was sponsored by Multimedia University and all participants were entitled to a RM5 discount off any trip to- and from Intercontinental, Kuala Lumpur, sponsored by MyTeksi.
