So, you break into one of this new and shiny IoT devices and enter to a labyrinthine world of copper, silicon, epoxy and pin headers. How to identify the different parts of the circuit? How to locate the different buses exposed? How do they look and how to interact with them to get access to the logic/firmware?
This workshop is a condensde 2-day hardware hacking training into a 120 min hands-on lab aimed at shortening the -virtual- gap between the software and the hardware world built on strong theory and hands-on exercises. Our plan is to arm the attendees with practical experience on PCB recognition/analysis, common protocols such as uart, i2c, spi, 1-wire and signal analysis tools like oscilloscopes.
This will be done in a fun, relaxed and entertained atmosphere, with hands-on exercises on both real devices and embedded devices specifically developed in-house to teach these concepts. We want to allow anyone with no experience on hardware hacking to get a good picture of the discipline (tools, techniques and mindset) and learn that the gap between hardware & software is not that big.
