Marina Krotofil I have vast hands-on experience in several engineering fields. Most recently I completed my doctoral degree in ICS security at Hamburg University of Technology, Germany.
My research over the last few years has been focused on the design and implementation of cyber-physical attacks aiming at both physical and economic damage. I use my destructive knowledge for designing process-aware defensive solutions and risk assessment approaches. During my PhD I collaborated with several industrial partners (ABB, Shell), participated in EU projects (PANOPTESEC, THREsPASS) and collaborated with cool dudes from the hacking community.
I am the author of the Damn Vulnerable Chemical Process framework – an open-source platform for cyber-physical security experimentation based on the realistic models of chemical plants. I have written more than a dozen papers on the subject of cyber-physical exploitation. I give workshops on cyber-physical exploitation and am a frequent speaker at the leading ICS security venues around the world. Most recently I gave a talk at 31C3 and at S4x15 of Digital Bond. I hold MBA in Technology Management, MSc in Telecommunications, MSc in Information and Communication Systems.
